The Girls and the Super Thriver

Here is a little update on the kids:

Layla
Layla is doing awesome.  She is a great big sister and is very patient playing with Jade.  Lately, Layla has taken an interest in drawing.  She will sit down and draw amazing pictures of mermaids, unicorns and houses.  She also loves to sing.  While riding in the car she sings all the primary songs at the top of her lungs.  I often wake in the morning listening to her sing to herself in the bathroom while she tries on clips and jewelry.  She is a great help and can clean up her own room.

Jade
Jade is so vivacious! She loves to be a part of everything going on.  She is amazing at talking.  Some of the recent words I have heard her use and was surprised that she knows are: drain, unicorn, moss, rose, reflect, camouflage.  Most of these words she learns from Sid the Science Kid.  But she uses them correctly and spontaneously.  Jade has recently become fascinated with being "Super Jade."  She loves to wear a cape and fly around saving the day.  She also loves the song "Baby Beluga" by Raffi and any mention of beluga whales in general. However, Jade has been struggling lately.  It probably has something to do with the birth of Adam and being 2.  Sometimes she gets super stubborn and will be defiant just to be defiant.  She also has had several injuries lately.  Probably due to her wanting to be more independent so she is trying new things.  Last week she fell down on the sidewalk and got a giant goose egg in the middle of her forehead.  Then, just as that was almost healed she fell on the stairs and got a second black eye.  Both times she jumped up and was fine but it sure looks bad.

Adam - The Super Thriver
Adam is a wonderful baby.  In the past few days he has started making more eye contact and we can occasionally get a little smile out of him.  He is OOOing and AAHing a little more too.  He sleeps in 4-5 hour stretches at night.  Today was his 6 week check-up here are the stats:
Height: 23 inches 90th percentile
Weight: 13 pounds 6 ounces 95th percentile
Head Circumference: 16 inches 95th percentile
The doctor called him a "super thriver."  Here is a picture overload of cute Adam.
